Safe Environment Training
The mission of Safe Environment Training (SET) is to prevent sexual, physical, or emotional abuse and/or neglect of children and young people through continued education, building awareness, and maintaining a commitment to keeping all children and young people safe.
The Diocese of Phoenix requires all clergy, employees, and volunteers, at all Diocesan facilities and events, to complete the SET program annually. This includes minors as well as those that work in food pantries, provide meal services in private homes, and adults administering an after-school program. SET certification requires completing an online and/or in person curriculum and passing a state and federal criminal background check.
